"Jacobs typically creates her surreal and imaginative paintings on gesso-coated paper using acrylics and various dry media. Though mostly representational, they are out of the box of still life, landscape and figure study. Pears are subjected to numerous thematic variations and permutations...blending fine pencil and acrylic rendering, The artist inserts the fruit into surreal, whimsical settings. They often serve as a visual foil to vaguely pear-shaped nude Prudence, and a male athlete who interacts with pears as both sports equipment and as absurd, monolithic metaphors." Her "Native American" series and the "Variations on a Pear" series have been shown at the Carnegie Art Museum, Elverhoy Museum, Ventura County Maritime Museum and the San Bernardino County Museum. The City of Thousand Oaks purchased two of her paintings for their public collection.
