To get lost in the process with no concern about how the artwork will be viewed by another.....the mode of a true artist!

Watercolors

After living in South Texas until 1979, I moved to California where I taught high school English and journalism at Newbury Park High School.  In our retirements, my husband and I have centered most of our activities on art and music.
We have eight grandchildren in California and Texas and and a soon to be born ninth in Paris, France. (Sounds like a geat place to paint.....)

As far back as I can remember, I have filled pages of notebooks with doodles and sketches. After retiring in 2001, I finally began to take art classes, first in Chinese Brush on Saturday mornings at Thousand Oaks High School, and later with Phyl Doyon and her students at her gallery in Camarillo.  Although I have painted some with acrylics and also worked with monoprints and other printing techniques, I focus mostly on watercolor.

With the encouragement of teachers and fellow artists, I continue to benefit from a variety of workshops. I enter juried shows and open shows usually at the Thousand Oaks Gallery. I had a solo exhibit in the Camarillo Library, and was half of an exhibit for two artists at Gardens of the World.

Our dynamic art community is both inspiring and motivating. Now I am looking forward to working with the Thousand Oaks Art Association, the group I have heard of with the most praise.
